While driving down the interstate, there was a loud pop and all of a sudden white smoke came pouring from the engine bay, and before the incident there was never any overheating taking place.

Welcome to 2CarPros. Your description sounds like one of the coolant hoses failed, either to the radiator or to the heater. If you shut it off ASAP and let it cool down you can look at the hoses and see what failed. I have see the radiators fail, hoses and plastic fittings. Usually you can follow the wet areas and see where something failed. If you cannot easily find it you can add water to the cooling system and then look for the spot where it runs out.
Once you find it then you can determine what needs to be repaired.
