I recently had my fan belt replaced because of a high pitched squealing noise, the belt was worn. The new belt is now making a noise, not as loud as the old, that goes away once the car is warmed up.

What could be the problem?

Hello-

It appears that you need to replace your belt tensioner. I have attached that for you. Ensure you adjust as required.

[For 2.4 L DOHC ENGINE]

[For 2.7L SOHC ENGINE]
The drive tension is adjusted automatically by the autotensioner.

NOTE: The belt tension must be measured between the specified pulleys. When a new belt is installed, adjust the tension to the center of the standard range indicated under "New." Let the engine idle for 5 minutes or more, and check the standard value indicated under "Inspection." When adjusting a used belt or a newly installed belt after 5 minutes or more of operation, refer to the standard value indicated under "Used." Refer to the standard value indicated under inspection for periodic inspections.

2.4L DOHC ENGINE]

Loosen the tension pulley fixing bolt A.
Adjust the belt deflection with adjustment bolt B.
Tighten the fixing bolt A.
Re-check the belt deflection and re-adjust, if necessary. NOTE: Before re-checking, crank the engine one or more revolutions.

[2.7L SOHC ENGINE]

If the mean indicator is positioned over the max. position, replace the drive belt.
When replacing the drive belt, the mean indicator position must be between min. position and max. position.
