2006 Hyundai Santa Fe Steering Pump Noise

I have a Santa Fe and there is a whinning noise when car is idling and put into Drive or Reverse. The Noise goes away if Steering wheel is turned slightly. Have been told by Service/Dealer this is common to all Santa Fe's. Didn't hear noise until car was about 1 year old.

Hi there,

Well I don't know if this is a common problem or not, but regardless if the pump's noisy there is a problem, I would say by your description that the internal pressure relief valve may be leaking I would be getting a replacement pump fitted.
