Had clutch replaced, than a day later I noticed gear oil in driveway (I know gear oil smell). Local lube shop said it was a badly leaking transmission seal & topped it off. Went back to repair shop lot - there was gear oil spot where my car had been parked for customer pick-up. How likely is it that the seal was damaged during clutch replacement? Should this seal be replaced as part of normal clutch replacement?

Hi milburn,

Normally seals are not replaced during clutch replacement. Depending on which seal is leaking. If it is the CV joint seal, then it is possible it was damaged during clutch replacement.

The seal are not too difficult to replace, requiring the CV shaft to be removed only.
