I just recently purchased an old beater for driving back and forth to work. After a few days the CEL light came on and stayed on. After driving a few more miles on the highway I noticed that the car began to shake, I took the car in to have it inspected by an Auto dealership and they said the computer was saying that the problem was a heated oxygen sensor. Is it expensive to get it repaired or replaced, and is that what caused the car to start shaking?

Hello,

A malfunctioning oxygen sensor can make the engine run rough. Oxygen sensor controls the air fuel mixture to the engine, and when that becomes defective it can impact the air fuel mixture ratio causing the engine to run rough.
Replacing the heated oxygen sensor is a straight forward process. It can be done with simple hand tool.
