I work quiet a long time on my car and know it from a to z but this one drives me crazy:
Around 4 months ago my car starts shaking on the front passanger side at speeds over 55 mph, only on acceleration. And its not all the time, sometimes it doesnt show up for a whole trip to Austin (160 Miles), sometimes it comes after 20 Miles, sometimes it starts immidetly. I assumed the tires first, balanced them twice. No effect. Alignment - no effect. We changed the brake pads and checked the discs, berings and the cv joints - all in best working condition. I changed the struts before that starts so I guessed it comes from them. Couldn't be, they will vibrate all the time like the cv joints. Do you have any idea where else that could come from. I am out of answers. Thanks

Hi HoustonAccent,

Thank you for the donation.

The symptoms seems to indicate a fault with the drive trains and the CV inner joints are the most likely cause in this instance.

You mentioned checking the CV joints, were the inner joints checked for excessive side play and lack of lubricants?

Ah okey, you mean the inner joints, those guys there connected to the transmission. I guess I need to lift the car to check those or do you have an other idea? What are the symptoms whose indicates that that thing is broken? Do I need to replace the whole half shaft if its broken? Thank you for your help!

Yes, the joints that are attached to the transmission would cause vibrations if they lack lubricants or has excessive wear.

If there are no wear at the joints, lubricating them with replacement of the boots would solve the problem.

Replacement parts are available but they would be dealers parts.
