2000-2002 ACCENT DTC P0722 - PULSE GENERATOR-B INSPECTION AND TCM REPROGRAMMING TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN Reference Number(s): 03-40-016, Date of Issue: OCTOBER 01, 2003 Superceded Bulletin(s): 02-40-017 Related Ref Number(s): 02-40-017, 03-40-016 ARTICLE BEGINNING DESCRIPTION: Some 2000-2002 ACCENT vehicles may experience the following conditions: Ã Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0722: No pulse generator-B signal Ã Third-gear "Fail -Safe" condition Ã "Check Engine" light on If the vehicle experiences the above symptoms: 1. Inspect the pulse generator-B and replace if necessary. 2. Reprogram the TCM using the Hi -Scan Pro VEHICLES AFFECTED: Ã Model: 2000-2002 Accent vehicles with automatic transmissions Ã Affected vehicle production date range: 3 DR: Produced through October 11, 2002, 4 DR: Produced through September 3, 2002 Ã Affected vehicle identification number (VIN) range: 3 DR: Produced through KMHCF35C63U235415, 4 DR: Produced through KMHCG45C03U412818 SERVICE PROCEDURE: PULSE GENERATOR-B INSPECTION PROCEDURE: 1. Disconnect the pulse generator connector (blue) and remove the pulse generator male connector (black) from the bracket. Fig. 2: Disconnecting Pulse Generator Courtesy of HYUNDAI MOTOR CO. 4. Using an ohmmeter, check Pulse generator male connector the resistance between terminal No. 3 and No. 4 in the disconnected pulse generator male connector (black color). Resistance value: 215-275W (at 20 C or 68 F) Fig. 3: Measuring Resistance Courtesy of HYUNDAI MOTOR CO. If the resistance is lower or higher than the specification, replace the pulse generator (P/N 45955- 22700).If the resistance is within specification, go to Step 5. Fig. 4: Pulse Generator Male Connector Courtesy of HYUNDAI MOTOR CO. 5. Clean both ends of the disconnected pulse generator connectors with aerosol electrical contact cleaner. 6. Apply contact grease (P/N 00305-F0000-39, NYOGEL 760G), into all four terminal openings of the blue female connector until each terminal opening is completely filled with grease. Reinstall all removed components in the reverse order of removal.CAUTIONS BEFORE REPROGRAMMING: 1. Conduct reprogramming with the ignition key in the "ON" position.
