1999 Hyundai Accent engine check light

Engine check light is now on permenantly but has been flashing on and off engine runs fine have had a electrical diagnostic test new leads and plugs but light remains on garage now says slight misfire on no3 cylinder and slight loss of compression but car runs absolutely fine does this mean a new valve can you help many thanks

Hi:
With 70K miles on it, the engine should be fine unless you never changed the oil. If the compression was low in one of the cylenders, the engine would miss, be hard to start, use more gas.

I strongly recommend a second opinion. It could be a bad spark plug (2 dollar part).
