I cant get a scan tool to read my computer. Ive checked the wireing and fuses. Is there anything im missing. The car runs by the way

Does MIL come when key is turned on? Is scanner OBDII?

YMIL? And its from autozone. I dont know what kinda scanner it is. They do it for free. They told me to check the fuses but I cant find any reason it shouldnt work. No check engine light. I really just want them to adjust idle and see if any codes come up cause I just bought the car.
