Question: Would battery issue show up on a diagnostic test? And would that be the first thing you would consider when repairing? My car would lose power even with my foot all the way down on accelerator eventually cutting off. I took car into shop it was put on machine, they replaced the Throttle Body paid $1,300.00 got it back car still doing the same thing. Took it back they replaced a wire paid another $400.00, got car did the same thing. Took it back 3rd time taking the car back within less than 3 weeks. This time I was told it was the hybrid battery cost for that would be over $13,000.00. So I feel like shop was negligent and did unnecessary repairs, had I know the battery was the issue I would not have had work done on it because the cost is more than the car is worth.

Hello, I'm Danny.

To answer your question yes, a defective battery will show a trouble code. Sounds like this place didn't properly diagnose and I would ask for some sort of refund. Years ago had that happen at a used car lot I worked at with a Toyota Prius. Sold the car for $2,000.00 with a bad battery. New owner replaced battery which was more than the cars worth. So the car dealership to refund money minus $1.00 for purchase of car. Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.
