HVAC control issue

HVAC controls got real tight on the AC/heat side selector. Fan side is fine. I broke the knob trying to turn from defrost back to AC. Now it will not move at all even with pliers. When it was working I had no issues with air coming out the proper location. I’m thinking this is a simple HVAC control unit replacement could it be something else?

Good evening

Yes, I would replace the control head. It sounds like it has failed.

Rock auto has the part. I attached a picture for you.

Procedures below for you.

Roy

1. Remove the instrument panel accessory trim plate.
2. Remove the front floor console, if equipped.
3. Remove the retaining screws from the HVAC control module.
4. Pull the HVAC control module out from the instrument panel.

5. Disconnect the electrical connectors and the vacuum harness, if equipped from the HVAC control module.
6. Remove the HVAC control module.
