2005 Hummer H2 wipers

My front wipers will not turn off. My dealer said the part was on back order indefinitely and would cost $500.00 if it did come in. Is that the real labor & material cost to fix this problem? I bought a "relay" switch for $20.00 from Straus Stores who said that is all I need, but I don't want to install it with fear I may damage something. I've already worn out a set of wipers. Do you have any suggestions or instructions?

The wiper system on your Hummer is very complicated, you will need a scan tool to diagnose it, if the dealer will fix it for $500, you may be money and time ahead, but if you want to attempt it yourself I will step you through the procedure, but you will need a scan tool and a test light, let me know what you want to do. You can purchase these tools on this site.
