My ABS unit has failed on it. Was hoping someone might tell me the best way to remove it I plan on sending it to a shop to be repaired.

I am attaching the process from the manual. here is a guide that will help with step by step instructions:

Below is the process from the manual. It appears the HCU needs to come off as well which means you need to bleed the ABS and then the brakes when you are finished. If you can get this off without taking the hydraulic lines off then that will keep you from bleeding the system but I don't remember if that is possible on this one.

Please let us know if you have other questions. Thanks

KASEKENNY1,

Thank you for the information. Is there any special way I would have to bleed the HCU unit? I looked at the room around it did not see any way to get the ABS unit out of the car without taking it out together.

Yes. There is a process and it requires a scan tool to activate the ABS so that it bleeds the air out. However, this pushes the air out into the base brake system so you need to do this first and then bleed the brakes.

See below for the details.

Thank you for the help. Today as I started the car applied the brake pedal all of the brake lights came on including parking brake, not just the ABS light. Brakes seem fine while driving. I reset the system but now every time I apply the brake pedal all still come on? Any ideas on this? Just ABS unit?

Have you started the repair yet? Did this happen after you reinstalled it or have you not done anything yet?

Either way, we are going to have to scan for codes and go from there. Here are a couple guides that will help with this:

KASE, again thanks for your reply and help. I have order a scanner with the ability to bleed the system correctly as you mention. I just started it up and all of the lights came on when I hit the brake pedal. I had originally took it to a repair shop about ten days ago. And they told me the abs module was bad. I have an older scanner but it does not have an abs function on it. Reason I took it to a shop. But I did reset the system with it. Second time I hit the brakes they all came back on again.

Okay. Getting the codes with that scanner will help but if the system has not been bleed then that may do the trick.

Let us know what you find with this once we get the codes and bleed it and we can go from there. Thanks
