Hi, my brother switched out the car battery on his car. After starting up the car he went to open his sunroof and we noticed that when pressing the slide open fiction switch it only opened about three inches, so he passed it again and it open another three inches. So, in order for it to fully open and close he would have to press the switch buttons several times. I had the same problem on my Lincoln Zephyr and found it there was a reset/relearn procedure to fix it. Can anyone helping with the steps on how to do it on his Maxima? Would greatly appreciate it. Also thank you in advance.

Hi,

I looked through two manuals and can't find anything related to a reset for the sunroof. Tell me. If you hold the open button down, does the glass open fully?

Let me know.

There are 2 switches. One is for the tilt up and back down to the close position and the other is to fully slide open and close. I would send a video, but my phone isn't allowing me to do that I can show you. When I press the tilt switch the function works fine. It's just when I use the other switch to slide open to full and back to close that it isn't working like it should.

Do me a favor. Just as a test, press both at the same time and see if the glass goes through a cycle.

Let me know.

Nothing happens. I tried it a few times. First time I did it I turned on the switch, pressed and released right away and nothing. Second time I turned off switch, removed key, waited 5sec before inserting it and turning on switch pressed both switches only this time I held it for 10 seconds and again nothing. Third time same procedure as second only I pressed the buttons and waited until I would hear something, held them for about 2 minutes and nothing last attempt I did same as third procedure only before starting it I disconnected battery for about 5 minutes before reinstalling cables to battery. Checked if the sunroof maybe it worked as it should, and it didn't. It did same thing and did the same procedure as the 3rd time and well I'm still were I started from.

Hi,

I have one more rest try. Hold the tilt button in the forward position with the vehicle running. You should hear a click or shift sound. After it makes the sound then try the slide feature to see if it reset.

Let me know.

It didn't do anything. No sound came out from it. Maybe it just needs to be removed completely and checked for anything that looks damaged or worn out.

Hi,

There are limit switches on the circuit, but I don't feel replacing the battery would cause them to fail.

I was able to find more info on the reset, take a look at pic 1 below. Let me know if this is something you already tried.

It doesn't specify if I'm supposed to turn the ignition switch to the on position or not? I'll try it with and without ignition switched on and I will let you know. Thank you

Hi,

No problem whatsoever. I just hope it helps. As far as the key, if I had to guess, I would say it should be on. Otherwise, there isn't power to the sunroof, and I doubt that would fix it.

Regardless, I look forward to hearing the results.

Take care,

Joe
