Power antenna will go up and down about half way. Will not retract all the way down. Will not go all the way up. Radio reception if fine. Thanks.

Hi mc2133,

Thank you for the donation.

The power antenna motor or the aerial reel is causing the problem.

Extend the antenna fully by pulling on it to assist while it is going up and use wd-40 to spray onto the antenna. Use a clean piece of rag to wipe off the Wd-40 any dirt or grime that is sticking on the mast and retry. You might need a few cleaning process to get the antenna working correctly.

If cleaing does not resolve the problem, the power antenna assy has to be replaced.

Thanks. I did attempt to clean before submitting this question. The motor does not seem to hesitate during operation. Is the aerial reel the antenna itself w/ the long plastic attatchment? Or is the antenna asembly the entire device? (Motor, housing, reel, etc.)

The motor itself would seldom fail. It is the mechanism for pulling the reel that is the caiuse.

Pull the plastic reel out and inspect the gears of the plastic atttachment for wear, if there are no abnormal wear, then the motor with housing is faulty and has to be replaced as an assy. If the gears are worn, then you can replace the antenna with reel.
