Greetings,

I have the car listed above without the air bag and without the radio buttons on the steering wheel. When I turned the steering wheel while maneuvering in the parking lot the other week my horn intermittently came on and it happened so much that I disconnected the two horns inside the front left fender. I believe the problem lies inside and behind the steering wheel and column. Therefore, if this is the case. I would like to have the schematic for the horn, exploded views and diagrams, and procedures to remove the steering wheel and replace whatever parts are necessary. I could not determine which fuse was the proper one for the horn either. I could not see it. I only saw CTSY and, Cig and those did not disable the horn when it was coming on unwantedly.
Thanks

Yep, what happens is inside the steering wheel the thin metal contact strips get weak and start touching each other, making the horn go off. You will need a steering wheel puller you can rent from the auto parts store which is free.

Here are the instructions on how to remove the steering wheel.

1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then remove the attaching screws for the steering pad.
2. Remove the pad and horn lead, then remove the steering wheel retainer and nut.
3. On 1990-91 models, remove the dampener, if equipped.
4. On all models, remove the steering wheel with a suitable steering wheel puller.
5. Reverse procedure to install.

Please upload pictures or videos in your response of any problems so we can see what to help you with.

Is there any chance you can provide an exploded view diagram of the assembly so I can see the parts before I remove the wheel? My model is a 1989 GTA trans am with no airbag or radio buttons on the center pad. Thanks

Sure, here is a exploded diagram so you can see what you are getting into with the repair.
