To start off I jus recently had an oil leak where the oil filter connects to the engine. My check engine light did not come on and the temperature gauge was at normal. As soon as I saw smoke I realized the problem and I fixed it. Now that my car doesnt leak anymore there is still smoke coming out from under the hood. Cant really tell where its all coming from. Opened the oil cap from the engine and smoke came out from there too. What can be causing this problem?

Hi there,

I feel the smoke under the bonnet is oil that is still on the exhaust & heat shields from the last leak. The smoke from the oil cap is excessive engine fumes due to poor engine rings, If the smoke under the bonnet does not clear up soon, wash engine and engine bay down and inspect for fresh leaks. If you have not serviced the car recently, do so that will help with the engine fumes.
