Hey all

So I just finished cleaning my EGR, IAC, and Throtle boady (used intake medic) and changed the fuel filter

i attached the fuel rail back on as I was tightening the top part this tiny piece of meatle on the side came off (not sure if its important or what that did)

so I started my car and it idles amazing 800 steady but as I am driving away my car (has alot more power) jerks me back and forth like crazy in first gear its not so bad in the higher gears but everytime I press or release the gas I get a huge jerk not matter how light I press

so press the butterfly valve very light and I get this vohm vohm vohm kinda sound really fast and my rpm goes up and down 100 rpm and my engine started shaking.

its like I made my car to sensitive or too much fuel is going in or a air leak somewhere? Tb to intake?

my car ran alot smoother but with less power before this.

like I said please help me! I am broke right now or I would go to the shop but I need my car to go to work but I don't wanna damage it

thanks for any input

when I get home the idle started varying 100ish rpm very rapidly

Hi 98preludeguy,

Jerking means the engine is misfiring, check the spark plugs.

Why did you remove the fuel rail? Check the injectors for leakages and wire connections.

Did you clean and adjust the idle adjust screw?

Which metal piece are you referring to?

There is vacumn leakage causing the hunting of the engine idle. If the sealed throttle stopper screw had been tampered with, the valve is open too much. Cleaning the dirt away caused it to happen.
