I have a 1996 Honda Prelude SRV. Approximately 2 months ago I had the Timing belt replaced. At that time the Crank Sensor was also changed. Approx 3 weeks ago the car stalled while I was on my way to work. It would turn over but it would not fire. It has now been to several mechanics. The crank sensor was replaced again, the distributor was done, and the computer was replaced. It has air, spark and fuel but it will not fire up. Turns over normal. Do you guys have any idea where else I should be looking. This is really frustrating and my mechanics seem to be clueless as to what the problem is. (The car has been to 3 shops in the past 3 weeks). I apologize for not making a donation but I am at work and have forgotten my wallet today. I just got off the phone with my mechanic and he basically said he's done all he can do. I am desperate here.I can donate on Monday.

Hi 96 prelude SRV,

Normally when you have sparks and fuel with mechanical operationsin order, the engine should start up.

Are the sparks bright blue or dull orange? Dull orange would mean a weak coil.
Did the Check Engine Light show prior to it stalling?
Did you test the compression?
Did you recheck the timing belt?

Checked compression, it is 180 across the board
The timing belt and timing has been checked and rechecked several times now.

The engine light was coming on intermitently for the few weeks between when my timing belt was replaced and when this mysterious problem arose. I was told it was due to a bad EGR sensor.

- ECM has been replaced
- The entire distributor has been replaced
- Crank sensor has been replaced
- Turns over as hard as it did when the car was still actually starting.

WW are down to checking the ignition module and the main fuel injection relay?

The wiring has been gone through on the car. All grounds are present and all wiring shows strong current.

We are completely baffled by all of this.

Let us reconfirm this.

Sparks available when cranking? Bad ICM or ignition coil would cause none or weak spark. Ensure sparks are bright blue.
Does starting fluid works?
