Hi shawmichelle,

The following reply has a description of what needs to be done. You need to pump the fluid in from the bottom and let it run from the fill plug telling you it is full. Not like the old days of a dip stick.

If you require more information, feel free to ask.

Hello,

To check the transmission fluid you must do it from under the car you basically push fluid in until the fluid comes out of the fill hole like the old stick shift transmissions. Here are diagrams below to show you. Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed. Cheers.

This vehicle will go forward slowly and will finally get going faster if you keep on the gas slowly. Someone told me if the transmission is fried it should not move at all. I have checked for a transmission at a couple foreign salvage places but have had no luck and also they tell me if I could find one it would be around $500.00 and then probably another $500.00 or more to get it put in. I have not taken it to a mechanic and had it diagnosed yet. I do not have a lot of money to waste on the thing but I would like to get it moving so I could sell it. There is no dip stick to even check the transmission fluid. Will it move forward if the transmission is shot?

The transmission is slipping badly, your only option is to get a test and report done by a transmission specialist, the test should only be a minimal cost.

Yes, it was were it should be and I checked it while it was running then waited for it to cool and it is where it should be. It is just strange to me why the transmission fluid would get hot in the first place?

The light is not telling you the fluids are overheating. An error has been detected by the transmission control module and you need to check for trouble codes.
