'03 Acura RSX TypeS steering rack

My local Honda Dealer quoted me a price of $1800 for parts and labor on a new steering rack. I called a parts store and the steering rack is only $250 with lifetime warranty. Does the price they quoted me seem high?

they also quoted me $660 for left and right lower ball joints. Which im having a hard time finding any aftermarket replacements.

The rack and pinion is a bear to put on. Ask if the new rack is with or without tie rod ends. It requires an allignment but $1800 is too high. About $600 at a local shop is more like it.

Ball joints are available at NAPA part number 260-1578 for about $60 each.
