Wheel play

When I jacked front left side up to replace rotors I noticed when I grabbed top and bottom of tire there was play in the wheel, as if the spindle nut wasn't tight. I've replaced the tie rod end. I don't see any play with the ball joint. CV boot is fine. Car drives fine. No humming or whining noise while driving. Made sure spindle nut was torqued to spec.

A small amount is normal as the CV axle is flexible and capable of expansion to a degree.

Thanks much for the response. What concerns me is I don't have the play on the right side. If the amount of play I'm getting is outside the realm of "normal", would that be indicative of the cv axle going bad?

Is your movement the spindle going through the bearing or is it from the axle itself? Normal deterioration of the CV is caused from friction and lack of grease. I assume that the CV boots are intact with no leakage of grease.
