Electrical problem
2005 Honda Odyssey 6 cyl Automatic 115000 miles

My interior map light stopped working with the door open option, although you could still manually turn it on. Then a week ago, it quit working all together. I checked the bulb, replacing it with a new one and the other "working" one, and also checked the fuse which I found worked with the other map light. Light still does not work, could it be on a seperate fuse under the hood, or is there some other "easy" fix that I might try next?

Hi mommyof2cuties,

There is no separate fuse.

Did you try opening all doors to check if it works when any particular door is opened?

Remove the maplight cover and test the light bulb socket for battery voltage with bulb removed. Note which terminal has battery voltage and reinstall the bulb. With the switch turned to door open mode, ground the terminal that does not have any voltage with the test lamp. If bulb or test lamp lights up, you have an open circuit between the light and door switches.

Check the door light switches on the door jams, the switch could be broken and fallen inside the pillar.
