2003 Honda Odyssey 6 cyl Automatic 95000 miles

I have a 2003 Honda Odyssey. I was stopped at a red light and idling when I heard a kind of whipping noise under the car (sort of like the noise a shoelace caught in a vacuum makes). About 15-20 seconds later there was a thunk sound and when I looked at the ground where the car had been there was a large metal ring on the ground (which I picked up and put in the car, and which has a chip in it). After that, the A/C no longer worked and on the dashboard the battery (system charging) light and the brake lamp indicator lights are on. When I looked under the car once I got it home and in the driveway I could see a ragged belt hanging down near the front passenger tire. My manual is not really proving helpful in trying to trouble shoot what it might be so I can have some kind of idea what to expect when I take it in to get looked at tomorrow.

Hi ottersambas,

Looks like the crankshaft pulley has lost a ring and needs to be replaced with the beltings.

I am surprised that with the loud rattling noise you still kept the engine running.

Hope there is no other damages due to impact when the ring was detached.
