My hubby has looked at the oil filter, nd said in this engine there is something between the oile filter and the engine, some sort of device, where the oil seems to be lesking out of greatly, when the engine is running. What is this device, and why would it be leaking so profusely?

Hi dmondman,

I guess you must be refering to the oil cooler. It has an O ring and over time it would harden resulting in leakages as it is unable to provide any sealing.

It is under pressure when the engine is running and you need to get it repaired asap.
