Hello everyone! I recently got a Certified Pre-owned vehicle listed above Sport model. I noticed it was making a whistling/chiming noise while in park. It doesn't do it while I'm driving and it doesn't have any performance issues, only this noise. It only does it when the car is in park, and it doesn't matter if the car is turned on or not. I was able to catch it on video tonight, once while the car was turned on + in park, and again after I turned the car off to get out. Any ideas on what it could be? I was hoping to get some advice before scheduling a service appt so I can get an idea of what's going on.

Here is the YouTube link for the video:

Thank you all in advance! It's much appreciated. (I tried to attach the video to the post but it's not working)

Hi,

I did hear it. It sounded like a whistle to me. Can you tell approximately where the noise comes from? For example, does it sound like it is under the dash?

Let me know.

Joe

Thank you for responding Joe! It actually does sound like it's coming from the dash.

If it is, it may have something to do with the park lock actuator. That is the only thing I can think of that would only happen in park. If it never happens in another gear, that is my first suspect.

Do me a favor. Pay attention if your foot is on the brake when you hear it. The brake lamp switch is what powers the park lock actuator. That could explain why it may happen with the key on or off.

Let me know.

Take care,

Joe

Yes, I do hear it when my foot is on the brake. Actually, today I heard it while the car was in reverse. That's my first time hearing it while in a gear other than park.

Hi,

This certainly isn't a common one. LOL If it is only happening when your foot is on the brake, something leads me to think it is related to the park lock actuator.

When do you have an appointment?
