I have an 88 crx si, I recently recently installed 91 crx si engine due to engine failure. Spark plug tubes were leaking oil, replaced valve cover & spark plug tube seals. Replaced spark plugs, timing belt & water pump. Also replaced distributor. Car ran fine, slight noise from belt probly from timing belt being too tight. Onto the problem, when exceeding approx. 3500rpm, burns oil like crazy, have to add oil every week or 2. When letting off throttle, then accelerating again car doesnt accelerate smootly, jerks. Compression test on high side of spec, ok, minimal difference between cylinders, also within spec. Coolant ok, oil ok. Fellow mechanic suggested exhaust valve guide seals needs replacement, any other possible causes?

Could be a valve stems/guides/seals-problem or you can do a cylinder leakdown test other than compression check-the leakdown will tell you exactly where its leaking valves/rings-

Thanks for the reply :)
actually had done a leakdown test on 2 of 4 cylinders, got side tracked and never ended up doing all 4. Anyways, had no leaks, no noise heard(through rad/exhaust/valve cover/intake pipe)
