Just recently noticed a "moan" type sound when I either turn into a parking space or make a u-turn. Can either be making a right or left turn and hear this noise. When I had my oil changed recently, I asked the mechanic to please check it out and he said the noise appears to be coming from the "rear and sounds like the gears are binding". He does not make this repair. It is Real time 4 wheel drive. Am I doing more damage by driving it? And it sounds like this could be a costly repair? Any suggestions would be incredibly helpful! Thanks you.

Hi there,

this is a bit hard to pin point down with out a test drive and a listen first hand, I would be checking that the correct oil is in the diffs and transmission first, and may be a visit to a dealer would be a good idea, just for a second opinion.

Hi there,

Seems you are having a problem with the differentials.

There was a Technical Service Bulletin on this and you should contact the nearest Honda dealer to verify if you are entitled to a warranty on the case.

Likewise, an oil change of the rear axle differential might solve the problem. You should ONLY use the specified Honda DPSP trans fluid.
