2005 Honda CRV Rubbing noise in slow speed tight turns

Our CR-V recently developed the problem above. The noise doesn't happen in reverse. It seems worse when turning right. I've ruled out a tire rubbing and the power steering pump. One wheel bearing was replaced: didn't help. I would appreciate any ideas. Thanks.

Thank you for the donation.

I believe the noise is emitted from the rear differentials and this is a common problem for CRV.

Replacing the rear differential fluids would solve the problem. Only the recommended Honda DPSF - II fluid should be used. Any other fluid would cause the grating noise.

The noise seems to be coming from the front. I can also feel vibration in the steering wheel.

The groaning noise would be transmitted to the front via the propeller shaft.

There was a TSB on the problem and maybe you could check with your local Honda dealer if it is a warranty problem.

If it is the front that is causing the nopise, you would need to check if the brake backing plate is too near the brake rotors. They would be brushing during turns causing the noise.
