2002 Honda CRV grinding sound

THe air conditioner works as far a cooling. In fact it is cold as I replaced the compressor recently. However the thing is making a winding almost grinding sound which coinsides with the transmission sound. When the air conditioner is turned off, the sound disappears. Clutch in air conditioner?

Hi johnarci,

It should not be the AC clutch as when clkutchis engaged, it moves as a unit. More likely the noise is from the compressor internal bearings or pump and the compressor is showing signs of failing.

It is cold because pressure is still ok but the bearings are going.
