2002 Honda CRV cant get the transmission to shift out of park

2002 Honda CRV 4 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic

In cold temperatures (-15 Celsius and colder) our Honda does not want to shift into gear. We sometimes have to pump the break up to 25 times before it shifts out of Park. Explanation? What to do?

Hi arigato2002,

When the problem occurs, check if the brake lights are working. If they do not work, the brake switch is faulty not allowing the the interlock solenoid to release the gear shift lock.
