When should I change the timing belt on my CRV, and my 2002 Accord, also 80,000 miles. Mfg recommends 105,000 miles, but the dealer told me that because of the age of the car(s), I should consider making the change now. Is age a factor in the timing belt wearing out?

Hi airpinto,

The recommended mileages is 105 k miles or 84 months which ever comes first.

Age does not wear out the timing belts but it ages the condition of the belt and it would be advisable to get it replaced as old belts tends to loose their strength and can be stripped of tooth causing damage to the engine.
