I have a 98 CRV that dies when I am driving it. It tends to happen around the 40-45 mph range.

There is no sputtering as if it was low on fuel, it just all shuts down. The dash goes blank and no longer indicates what drive I am in. However, my air and radio still continue to work. My check engine light never turns on, but then again, I have no power to my dash at that time anyways.

When I put it in to park and turn it back on, it works fine.

Hi rosie32,

Thank you for the donation.

Symptoms indicates the ignition switch is faulty. This is a known fault and there was a safety recall on the item for 1999 model onwards.

The radio and A/C runs on a separate circuit from the engine controls so they would continue to work while the ignition system circuit has failed.

I woud suggest checking the ignition switch. If you are able to feel the ignition switch, I believe it would be rather hot to the touch.
