Hello

When the car starts, a very loud squeal (almost a screech) is heard. It goes away after about 15 to 30 seconds. Is this the air conditioning belt? Or what belt would make this noise? Is the noise from the belt slipping or how is the noise generated? How do I avoid getting ripped off in getting this fixed? A/C cools down OK.

Check all your belts to see if there tight. Take the belt in bettween two pulleys, the farther away the pullies are away from each other the better. Then pull on the belt it should only give about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch at most. I think that one of your belts is loose.
