Hello,
I have 1997 Civic LX 1.6L with 113000 miles on it and yesterday when I turned on my A/C it worked for about 5 mins and then refused to cool after that. The blower works and the A/C light comes on but when I look under the hood I see that just the pulley spins but not the rest of th compressor assembly (thinks it's called the clutch) that's supposed to engage when turned on. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Chris.

It could be a number of things but the first on my things to check would be how much freon was in the system . If it was full of freon then i would check for a blowen fuse, bad relay or broken wire or mabe a bad pressure switch but unlikly. The most common problem with a/c problems is lack of freon due to slow leaks. How long has it been sence a/c system was serviced? Systems do lose small amounts of freon over the corse of time because rubber is a porise meterale.
