When I start the car and the engine is cold there is a whining noise. The noise increases specially when I turn the steering wheel. . The noise continues for 15 to 20 minutes till the engine gets really warm. The noise started only a year back. I had the belt checked but was told its OK. The problems is by the tome I go to my Honda dealer, the engine warms up and the noise vanishes. The dealer is unable to locate the cause.

Thank you

Hi koshkosh,

Whining noise are usually from the power steering hydraulic system. Note if the power steering pressure hose seems to expand as if the rubber is weak when the steering is being turned.

Check the condition of the powersteering fluids. If it is dark, replace it and retest. Clean the reservoir as well.
