Helping my sister find out what's wrong with her civic. Yesterday was driving the car and it started slowing down even while her foot was still on the accelerator but the spedometer continued to read 45. She pulled over, turned it off, and when she restarted the car and put it in D it wouldn't move. She had the car towed and tried it again today and the car still slips when she puts it in D and won't move. Tranny fluid levels is ok. Any thoughts anyone? Thanks in advance

Hi Brahmabull,

Here are possible causes and what to look for. If the Dlight is blinking while driving, then you need to retrieve the trouble code to find out what has gone wrong.

Thanks, i'll start with this chart. The "D" light is not blinking. Does that mean there are no transmission related codes? The check engine light has been on for awhile for something to do with the O2 sensor so I don't know if there are any new codes related to this problem

Get a free scan done at Autozone and let me know the EXACT trouble code. It could be related to the transmission failing.
