2002 Honda Civic Rock or a hard place?

The AC on my Honda Civic starting failing intermittently so I went to an AC shop for diagnosis. The coolant was fine, no leaks. They said the problem was the compressor but they wanted a lot to fix it so I went for a second opinion. This other guy was a neighborhood garage owner and he wasn't so sure it was the compressor. He jumped around the terminals on the ECU and the AC worked. He thought it was the ECU. Either way it's an expensive repair so I want to make sure it's the right part, because I'll order it online and have the neighborhood mechanic install it. What do you think? Is there anyway to know for sure?

Hi there, this is hard to know with out actually testing the system. Normally if a compressor is faulty that is quiet self evident, as the system pressures will tell exactly what's going on. If the Compressor is being tricked into turning on because a low or high pressure switch is by passed. I would be guided by what the pressure readings are saying. But this is hard as I would really want to inspect the system first hand.
