Why would my overflow not empty into my radiatior when its low. The level in overflow is way past max level and I need to add coolant in radiator? I see no leaks anywhere, no water inoil or coming out of exhaust, my radiator cap broke, I overheated, and overflow cap blew off.. My guage rises alittle seems like when I drive it for period of time and then go in stop and go traffice. It gets higher than I put my het on to lower it. Im at a loss and going crazy. Dont have the money to take it somewhere and I think I am out of ideas. Please help me.

Hi sheila mindzora,

If the radiator cap is bad, the recovery tank would not overflow whereas the radiator would deplete.

If the radiator cap is good, then bad news, the head gasket is bad.
