I had a tune-up and oil change done in December. I ask my mobile mechanic to change the fuel filter for my car. He said it did not have one in the LX model. Is this true? Or what other reasons, would my car be using too much gas?

Hi ywright,

Fuel filter is located in fuel tank with fuel pump. It is item A in diagram.

It should be replaced if fuel pressure drops below 40 psi.

There are many possible reasons for high fuel consumption.

1. Excessive engine oil.
2. Bad spark plugs.
3. Leaks.
4. High idling speed
5. Stuck open thermostat.
6. O2 sensor
7. Throttle position sensor
