I have a nagging problem that only happens when temperatures climb near the 80's. The condition worsens as temperatures increase thoughout summer. The vehicle runs fine in the winter. After traveling a few miles the engine starts missing, chokes down (maximum 2500rpm) and ultimately begins to backfire until there is a complete shutdown. Once the engine is cooled it runs normal again until it heats up. The cataletic converter and timing belt have been changed without correction. What could be causing these issues?

Go to a local parts store and get the PCM scanned. There will be a code or a few codes stored in there. Post them up so I can further help you.

If you haven't done a tune-up in awhile, that might be the reason why, or you may have an ignition coil that is failing.

I finally got the diagnostic done as you asked. The OEM number to cross was P0336, if I am correct.

On the OEM brand: Honda it shows a small break down.
66range/performance problem in CKP sensor circiut

probably cause
open or short circuit condition
poor electrical connection
Engine mechanical condition
faulty CKP sensor

The guy at the auto parts store mentioned he had dealt with honda civics and racing, and thought it may be the CKP sensor, and had seen this before. I don't know. Lol

I figured best to get this information to you and you would have alot of information to share. I did replace plugs a few months back, but not the coils. I always considered there was a bad coil involved, but haven't had it tested yet. The limitations on this vehicle before it starts to act up are small, meaning only 20 miles or so.(Best get where you are going :P).

Anyway thanx a million for your help! I would gladly make a Donation, I am afraid times have hit me hard.

Thank you again.
