2001 Honda Civic Acceleration

My 2001 Honda Civic hesitates and is sluggish when accelerating from a stop, almost like the accelerator is sticking. I've checked this and it is not the problem. How should I troubleshoot this problem?

Was anything done prior to it happening?

When was the last time a tune up was carried out?

Is the Check engine Light showing?

Your timing is perfect. I just replaced the plugs (old ones were quite worn down) and the air filter (dirty).
Acceleration is now much improved. The check engine light is not on.
