2001 Honda Civic Two Wheel Drive Manual 171000 miles
My auto makes a thumping noise whenever it goes over a small bump or small pot hole. If the road is smoothe, then no noise. I just got the bushing replaced and the stablizer. Thanks for the help

Hi susieravage1,
Can you describe the noise in more details?
Which side is it coming from?
After replacement of those parts indicated, was there any changes in the noise?
Were the struts mounts checked?

I took my 2001 civic back to the mechanic. He replaced a bolt on the bushing they replaced. The noise is MUCH better now. Mechanic says I need to replace the struts now for the thumping noise that remains. I can put up with this noise but my son (26 years old) is thinking he might be able to replace the struts. Now this scares me.
Thanks for inquiring about my car issues

You're welcome.
If your son is mechanically inclined, it should not be a problem to replace the struts.
Tools such as spring compressor and a allen key to hold the strut shaft for removing the holding nut would be required.
