2000 Honda Civic Smog check

I have a 2000 honda civic. My car did not pass the smog check. The tech told me that it was because the computer in my car is saying the check engine light is on, but it is not lit inisde the car. What could possibly be he problem?

Are you able to post your readings? This will help us diagnose your vehicle much better. It could be a numerous amount of things.

Also, have you tried checking for codes? Just because the CEL is not lit, doesn't mean there are no history codes.
