1999 Honda Civic distributor, oil leak

I had an oil leak diagnosed by a mechanic as coming from the distributor. He told me it needs to be replaced; does this sound valid, and would it be something I could do myself only knowing the basics of auto maintenance?

You can replace just the o-ring seal on the distributor which is the cause of the leak, not the distributor itself.

You DO NOT have to purhase a whole distributor. Just the seal.
