Engine Performance problem
1999 Honda Civic 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 86k miles

fluctuating rpm during idle, and chugging while driving. The plugs have app. 10k on them, and I just installed new plug wires. Do you believe this is more likely a bad oxygen sensor problem, or a idle position sensor problem. My car has 2 oxygen sensors. Whats your thought on this. I'd like to avoid paying for a diagnostic if possible but I may get one for free. Thanx. Bill

Hi Bill,

If engine light is on go by your local auto parts store and see if they can or will pull codes if they do most will do it free.

Also when was your last fuel filter change?

The fluctuating idle could be a vacuum leak and/or the IAC (Idle Air Control) Motor.

Post findings and codes if possible.
