Brakes problem
1998 Honda Civic Front Wheel Drive Automatic 110775 miles

Is it true that one must replace all 4 CV boots at once even if only the left front one is torn?

What is a reasonable price for parts per boot replaced?

Thank you very much.

You only have to replace the one that is torn, not all of them.

You should have the axle shaft on the side that is torn replaced, mainly because it is cheaper to have the shaft replaced then to have it taken apart and a new boot put on.

Thanks for the prompt reply. The Honda dealership I went to suggested replacing all 4 boots and said nothing about the axle shaft. Given that this appears to have been poor advice, would you advise going elsewhere from now on?

If so, any suggestions for how to find a reasonably priced and trustworthy shop?

I mean if one is worn out and the rest are looking bad replace them, but you should replace the whole shaft, saves time and money.

But if the one boot just ripped from a rock hitting it or poor worksmanship then only that one needs replacing and I would still replace the shaft anyways.
