The vehicle starts fine when it has been sitting overnight. While idle the rpms are high when it first starts. Around 250. Then it will slowly go down to 100. After driving for a few miles the rpms will run very low. Just above the 0 and then it will rev back up to 100 and fall again. When it is turned off and started soon thereafter the rpms will run very low and at times the car will stall out. At this point it also sounds like faint backfiring. I had it tested and they told me that it was the crank shaft position sensor. Does this sound to you a likely cause for this sort of problem?

Hi lindz61382,

I would recommend cleaning the throttle body and IAC to solve the erractic idling.

Is the CEL showing?

Hi lindz61382,

Did you get a scan done to find out what the CEL is trying to tell you?

Hi lindz61382,

The ECM won't lie, if the sensor is providing a fault code, you need to check it or its wiring circuit.
