i have a 97 civic dx and for the past few day when I turn on the a/c engine revs down until it starts shaking and the a/c compressor shuts off then the engine goes back to normal idlei replaced the the idle speed control valve about 1 yr 1/2 ago and the car runs fine it only does this when I turn on the a/c

What rpm does the vehicle rpm at usually?

Your a/c system does put extra strain on the engine so when the clutch is switched on, the PCM does compensate by raising the IACV (idle air control valve) count so that it doesn't stumble.

It may be a good idea to make sure your base idle is at 800rpm and that your IACV is indeed still functioning properly.

It does it at about 1000 rpm the goes down before I changed the iacv engine reved up and down all the time
