Engine stalled when I drove through large puddle of water

In a bad rainstorm tonight the car turned off and the check engine light is on.

It's also wobbling when I put it in gear. I can hear the engine skipping a beat.

Did I ruin the engine?

Hi there,

This just may be very wet electrics, with the check light on there is now a set fault code, have a scan done and see what that code is, post it here for more assistance, also just make sure that the air cleaner has not got wet.
